Dishes that you must try out if you love Indian cuisine

Do you simply love to gorge on Indian food? Have to tried everything- from spicy curries to tangy chutneys?

Well the Indian cuisine has a wide range of dishes, which can be enjoyed by all who love to eat their meals a little spicy. You can take your pick from the Nirvana Cambridge lunch buffet if you are looking for a heavy typical Indian lunch or you can select an Indian dish of your choice from Nirvana. If you are planning on getting a taste of the Indian cuisine, then here are some of the dishes that you must try out:

  1. Tandooris are a particular favourite of the Indian cuisine. Prepared in a clay oven or with active charcoal, when making tandoori, the meat is not fried, but rather baked in spices which gives it a lovely and juicy flavour. Well if you are more of a fish person then you can try out fish tikka or if you want to try out something classic you should go for the tandoori chicken. Kebabs are a speciality of tandoors and hence you have to try out kebabs like the sheek kebab or the lamb kebab.
  2. Planning on having an Indian dinner? Well then instead of taking the trouble of ordering this and that and making a combination, go for the readymade combo that you have in your hands- the Indian thali. Thalis are basically an assortment of dishes which are typical of that part of the world. A typical non-vegetarian Indian thali will consist of Indian bread, butter chicken, samosas as starters, lamb vindaloo followed by some form of desert like gulab jamun or rasmalai. For a vegetarian thali, you will have paneer, malai kofta and even raita, which is prepared with yoghurt and is excellent for calming the digestion process.
  3. South Indian dishes are another huge favourite when it comes to the Indian cuisine. If you are not looking for something which is too spicy or heavy, then you can try out South Indian cuisine. You can try out the Dahi Bhala or the bhel puri as well as papri chat. Though most of these can be quite spicy, these are ideal as evening snacks. These are mostly street food items that are extremely popular in India.
  4. Mutton or goat is a speciality of various parts of India. You have to try out the goat curry once. This is best paired with rice or may be pulao, which is a type of sweet rice. Goat curry is ideally enjoyed for lunch because it is quite heavy and does not make for a very good dinner dish. A well cooked goat curry will be on the spicy side.
  5. No Indian meal can ever be complete without a desert. You can order gulab jamuns which are popularly consumed in the country. You can try out kulfi, which is much like ice cream but bursting with Indian flavours. Kheer malai and Ras malai are traditional Indian deserts that you have to try out.

Just when you thought that you have enjoyed most of the Indian dishes, more and more will pop up! So keep enjoying new dishes every day.

Boston finally has a great Indian restaurant. Excellent food, attentive service, modern decor. This will be my go-to Indian restaurant in the future. The restaurant is unfortunately located right in between Harvard and Porter Squares, which means a good bit of walking from a subway station and parking is challenging in Cambridge in general.

Great Indian food, friendly staff and a great value. Their lunch buffet is maybe the best value in the neighborhood. I sampled a lot of different dishes at the buffet, both veggie and meat based, and they were all great. I'd definitely recommend this spot for Indian food, especially for their lunch buffet.

Delicious food with super kind and attentive service. The ambiance is a lovely- somehow it feels cozy even with clean lines and modern decor. Will be returning soon.
